Italian-born Roberto "Pasta" Pantaleo grew up in a Brooklyn, NY, Italian neighborhood, where he inherited his nickname from his brother Nick, known as "Pasta Fazul" due to his heavy Italian accent. Seeing the sea as an escape from urban life, Pasta persuaded his family to migrate to South Florida in 1970. By the late '70s, Pasta had become a world-class airbrush artist, painting vehicles for South Florida's extravagant personalities living the lavish Miami Vice lifestyle of the era.
